Sailor's Story

Hi! My name is Sailor. I'm a 14 month old shepherd mix with an affinity for belly rubs. My other hobbies are running and exploring. Speaking of which, last month I decided to go for a run to explore what all was outside my yard. It's all kind of a blur, but somehow I came home with a broken jaw. I imagine I looked kind of funny with part of my bottom jaw just hanging there and my teeth pointing out. My mom didn't think I would make it through the night, but I'm tougher than she thought. I didn't really feel like eating much, so after a few days I got to go to Frick Vet Services. Dr. Frick and her little boy Grayson were there to greet me. Grayson gave me a belly rub and in return I gave him some kisses. After an examination, my options were to have my jaw removed or be put to sleep. My mom didn't have the money to take care of me, but instead of putting me down, she relinquished me to Dr. Frick.

During my stay with Dr. Frick and my other new friends that work there, I have had my jaw removed and received laser therapy to help my jaw heal faster; been tested for heartworms, spayed, dewormed, vaccinated, and I'm given a yummy heartworm preventative treat after I get my flea and tick medication. I enjoy long walks around the building and sometimes get to run around the inside of the clinic. A lot of other dogs come and visit me for awhile, and we get along just fine. I look just like any other dog; it's only when I look up that you can tell that there's anything different about me. I can even eat hard food with no trouble at all.

I've heard that all my special care got to be a little expensive. I assure you I'm well worth it. So, if you want to help me or any of the other animals that may need help, just give me a call at my temporary home, Frick Vet Services. On that note, I am told that I can't stay here for the rest of my life, so I am looking for a forever home that hopefully has a fenced in yard.

Thanks for looking at me and adopting me!!!  I have many other friends that also need a good home.
